Ilana Subar Named One of 2011’s “Leading Women” by The Daily Record

Date: November 10, 2011

Baltimore, MD – On December 1, 2011, The Daily Record will celebrate the achievements of the 2011 “Leading Women.” WTP is proud to announce that Ilana Subar, a partner in its Business Litigation practice group, was selected for her outstanding professional and civic accomplishments.

The Daily Record notes that its Leading Women awards identify women age 40 or younger for “the tremendous accomplishments they have made so far in their career, [including] professional experience, community involvement and commitment to inspiring change.”

For over 14 years at WTP, Ms. Subar has represented large, medium, and small companies in various state and federal courts. She handles a wide variety of complex commercial litigation matters involving breach of contract, fraud and other business torts, intellectual property, insurance, real estate, bankruptcy and employment. In addition, she has extensive appellate experience, including appeals to the Maryland Court of Appeals, Maryland Court of Special Appeals, D.C. Court of Appeals, and U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.  Ms. Subar has been recognized as a “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers in Maryland.

Ms. Subar is active in Lexwork International, a network of more than 40 law firms from Europe, the United States, Canada, Asia and Latin America, and has served on its Governing Board since 2006.  In 2009, when she served as chair of the Governing Board, she was believed to be the youngest chair in Lexwork's history.

In addition to her busy legal practice, Ms. Subar is active in the community, serving on the board of the Baltimore Jewish Council (2004-present), on the Leadership Committee for Attorneys for Community Mediation Campaign (2006-present), and doing pro bono legal work through the Maryland Volunteer Lawyer Service (1997-present).  Over the years, she has held various leadership positions at The Associated: Jewish Community Federation of Baltimore, including chair and campaign chair of its Young Adult Division, and chair of two of its inter-ethnic dialogue groups.  She also proudly serves as vice-president of MammoJam Music Festival, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting breast cancer awareness, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment programs through artistic and live music performances.

The firm's Managing Partner, Martin Fletcher, noted, “Ilana is a great young lawyer, who demonstrates the highest values of the legal profession, from doing excellent work for both paying and pro bono clients, to taking leadership roles in both professional and community organizations.”
