Joseph K. Pokempner Receives Charles H. Dorsey, Jr. Mentor Award from the Bar Association of Baltimore City
Whiteford, Taylor & Preston L.L.P., is pleased to announce that Joseph K. Pokempner received the 2004 Charles H. Dorsey, Jr., Mentor Award from the Bar Association of Baltimore City, at its 10th Annual Past President's awards luncheon held on November 23, 2004.
The Charles H. Dorsey Award is given to lawyers that provide exemplary service to the community at large and other members of the Bar. Wilbur D. "Woody" Preston, Jr. previously won the award in 1997.
Mr. Pokempner is a partner in the Labor and Employment Law Group in the Baltimore office of Whiteford, Taylor & Preston. Mr. Pokempner received his L.L.B., from the University of Maryland School of Law in 1962 and his B.A., from Johns Hopkins University in 1957. He was the President of the Bar Association of Baltimore City in 1984-1985 and the President of the Baltimore Chapter, Federal Bar Association in 1979-1980. He was chair of the Labor Law Section of the Maryland State Bar Association from 1982-1984. He is a Colonel in the Maryland Defense Force and is currently the Director of Legal Support Services. He is an active member of the Maryland State Bar Association and the American Bar Association, where he was a member of the House of Delegates from 1992-1994. He has been listed in Best Lawyers of America since 1985 and was the 2004 Honorary Alumnus of the Year, University of Baltimore School of Law.
