New Partners Elected at Whiteford Taylor & Preston

Baltimore – Whiteford, Taylor & Preston is pleased to announce that L. Katherine Good, Brandy M. Rapp, Jane Saindon Rogers and M. Trent Zivkovich have been named Partners of the firm, effective January 1, 2017.

Ms. Good, based in WTP's Wilmington, Delaware office, focuses her practice on corporate restructuring, bankruptcy and creditors' rights. She regularly represents debtors, secured lenders, committees, asset purchasers, liquidation trusts and other parties in chapter 11 cases, as well as foreign representatives and other parties in chapter 15 ancillary proceedings. Ms. Good regularly litigates in bankruptcy court as well as in appeals before federal district courts and courts of appeals. She has also represented companies in successful out-of-court restructurings and pre-packaged and pre-arranged bankruptcy cases.  In addition, Ms. Good has substantial experience with substantive non-consolidation opinions for structured finance transactions. She is admitted to practice in Delaware and Pennsylvania.

Ms. Rapp, based in the firm's Roanoke, Virginia office has significant experience representing clients in bankruptcy cases, complex business litigation and business transactions, including the sale and purchase of businesses and/or assets. Ms. Rapp also has substantial experience representing lenders and borrowers in out-of-court workouts and financial restructuring transactions. She has represented continuing care retirement communities, equipment leasing companies, landlords, lenders, secured and unsecured creditors and official committees of unsecured creditors in numerous Chapter 11 bankruptcy cases. Her experience involves sophisticated legal issues, including debtor in possession financing, adequate protection payments, administering trusts, use of cash collateral, lien validity and priority litigation, avoidance action litigation, and litigation involving the debtor's assumption and/or rejection of leases and other executory contracts. Additionally, Ms.Rapp has represented the receiver in several receiverships prosecuted by the Securities Exchange Commission and the Commodities and Futures Trading Commission. She is admitted to practice in Virginia and West Virginia.  

Ms. Rogers, based in the firm's D.C. office, focuses her practice on representing condominium and homeowners associations throughout D.C., Maryland and Virginia, dealing with the full range of issues confronting community associations. Ms. Rogers chairs the D.C. Legislative Action Committee of the Community Associations Institute and was instrumental in advising the D.C. Council on the 2014 Amendments to the D.C. Condominium Act. In addition to her community associations practice, Ms. Rogers has litigated complex construction/surety and fidelity/specialty bond cases in federal and state courts. She is admitted to practice in Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia.

Mr. Zivkovich, based in WTP's Baltimore, Maryland office, leads the firm's transactional environmental law practice and is co-chair of its Clean Energy Technology Group. He provides comprehensive environmental law services to clients on transactional, regulatory compliance and litigation matters, including advising on regulatory requirements and enforcement actions impacting businesses and property, leading deal negotiations to manage and allocate environmental liabilities among parties, advising on federal and state environmental and energy-related permitting needs, and counseling existing and start-up firms looking to capitalize on new technologies and opportunities. He also guides business and corporate clients through significant acquisition and financing matters and provides advice in contracting, succession planning and restructuring efforts. He is active in the real estate field, especially the purchase, divestment and redevelopment of brownfields sites and environmentally sensitive properties. A former licensed professional geologist, environmental consultant, and commercial real estate builder, Mr. Zivkovich is past Chair of the Maryland State Bar Association's Environmental Law Section. He is admitted to practice in Maryland.
