Whiteford Represents Meridien Energy in Significant Ch. 11 Plan Confirmation

Date: March 6, 2025
On January 17, the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Virginia (Richmond) confirmed the Chapter 11 plan of reorganization for Whiteford client Meridien Energy, LLC. The company, which operates a full-service pipeline construction company with projects principally concentrated in the Eastern U.S. (including FL, NJ, NY, PA and WV), had commenced its Chapter 11 case in April 2023 in order to preserve its business as a going concern and address the relentless effort of litigation adversaries who sought to defeat the recapitalization and restructuring efforts of the business. Leading the Whiteford team in representing Meridien Energy were Paul Nussbaum, Vern Inge, Dan Vorsteg, and Brandy Rapp, with contributions to the success by Josh Stiff, Rob Best and Alex DeSimone. Confirmation of the Chapter 11 plan not only allows Meridien Energy to emerge from Chapter 11 having reorganized as a going concern, but the company has retained valuable assets and litigation claims while eliminating liabilities and claims from creditors opposing the reorganization effort.
