The Virginia Residential Landlord Tenant Act, commonly referred to as the VRLTA, was initially enacted in 1974 and is a set of laws that govern the rental of certain residential property in the Commonwealth of Virginia. In addition to other obligations set forth therein, the VRLTA establishes the rights and responsibilities of both landlords and tenants in a residential lease agreement governed thereby.
