Baltimore Museum of Art celebrates its 100th Anniversary with Grand Re-opening of the American Wing

Date: November 21, 2014

Baltimore -- The Board of Trustees of the BMA, chaired by Frederick S. Koontz, a partner at Whiteford Taylor & Preston, has completed a major renovation of the museum in celebration of its 100th anniversary.

Years of hard work culminated in a sold-out Gala last weekend, celebrating both the Museum’s first century and the renovations, and the American Wing will re-open its doors to the public this Sunday, November 23rd.

Martin Fletcher, WTP’s managing partner, said, “Fred had been a dedicated trustee of the BMA for many years when he became the chair in 2010.  He took on a huge responsibility to lead the board in the most ambitious fundraising campaign in the Museum’s history and to support Doreen Bolger and her staff through the renovations, the re-opening of the historic main entrance and the creation of a new gift shop.  We are delighted to have been able to support Fred’s efforts, both because he is our partner and also because the BMA is one of Baltimore’s most beautiful and important cultural assets.”
