Four WTP Lawyers on Benchmark Litigation Under 40 Hotlist
Baltimore – Four lawyers from Whiteford, Taylor & Preston have been named to the Benchmark Litigation Under 40 Hotlist: Todd Brooks, Aaron Casagrande, Katherine Good and Christopher Samis. Each has been identified by peers and clients as being among the most notable up-and-coming litigation attorneys in the United States. Mr. Brooks and Mr. Casagrande are the only two Maryland lawyers to have been selected for this national ranking. Ms. Good and Mr. Samis are two of only six Delaware lawyers chosen, and Whiteford is the only firm to have two Delaware lawyers recognized.
Todd Brooks. A partner in the Baltimore office, Mr. Brooks represents debtors, debtors-in-possession, creditors, creditors’ committees, lenders and trustees in reorganization and liquidation proceedings. He prosecutes and defends bankruptcy claw-back claims, devoting substantial time to proceedings involving pre-bankruptcy payments made by a debtor involved in a Ponzi (or other fraudulent) scheme. He is a member of the Bankruptcy Bar Association for the District of Maryland and the American Bankruptcy Institute.
Aaron Casagrande. A partner in the Baltimore office, Mr. Casagrande’s practice includes a broad array of business litigation matters, including representing companies, creditors, and trustees in connection with investigations and litigation involving director and officer liability claims, mismanagement and business fraud, government investigations, and other business-related litigation. He also represents companies, creditors, and trustees in financial restructurings, bankruptcy proceedings, and related litigation. He is a member of the Bankruptcy Bar Association for the District of Maryland and the American Bankruptcy Institute.
Katherine Good. A partner in the Delaware office, Ms. Good focuses on corporate restructuring, bankruptcy and creditors’ rights. She represents debtors, secured lenders, committees, asset purchasers, liquidation trusts and other parties in chapter 11 cases, as well as foreign representatives and other parties in chapter 15 ancillary proceedings. She is currently Vice Chair (Corporate) of the Delaware State Bar Association’s Bankruptcy Section and serves on the Advisory Committee of the International Women’s Insolvency and Restructuring Confederation, Delaware Network.
Christopher Samis. A partner in the Delaware office, Mr. Samis focuses on corporate bankruptcy, business restructuring and other insolvency-related matters. He routinely represents debtors, official committees, individual creditors and other parties-in-interest in chapter 11 and chapter 7 bankruptcy cases before the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware. His bankruptcy and restructuring representations span a wide variety of industries, including retail, manufacturing, restaurants, telecommunications, publishing, entertainment, pharmaceuticals, biotech, energy, finance, transportation, real estate and construction. He is the Chair of the Bankruptcy Litigation Subcommittee, Business and Corporate Litigation Committee of the American Bar Association.
