Whiteford Advises on Major Golf Course Transaction

Date: August 9, 2024
Whiteford attorneys John Selbach and Ross Allen represented long-time client Pros, Incorporated and Giff Breed, in a partnership with Henrico County’s Economic Development Authority (EDA) and Sports & Entertainment Authority (SEA). The deal involves Henrico County purchasing the 268+ acre The Crossings Golf Club in Glen Allen, VA, a public golf course property, for $3 million and leasing it to Pros, Incorporated, a sports marketing company. Pros, Incorporated plans to invest $11 million to overhaul the golf course and bring it up to championship-level standards with the goal of hosting the Dominion Energy Charity Classic, PGA TOUR sanctioned event in October 2026. The project aims to boost economic and sports tourism opportunities in Henrico County, which had a $34 million impact from the tournament in 2023. The Crossings is located near the interchange of Interstates 95 and 295, in the vicinity of the GreenCity project and Virginia Center Commons, creating a sports tourism corridor.
