Whiteford, Taylor & Preston Hosts ABA President, Paulette Brown

Date: November 13, 2015

Baltimore – Whiteford, Taylor & Preston was pleased to host American Bar Association President Paulette Brown for a reception in our offices on November 10, 2015. Ms. Brown was joined by Judge Pamila J. Brown, President of the Maryland State Bar Association. Both women are the first African American female presidents of their respective organizations.

The reception was attended by minority law students and members of specialty bars, including Tara Barnes, president of the Alliance of Black Women Attorneys of Maryland Inc.; Erica LeMon, President of the Waring/Mitchell Law Society of Howard County; Erek Barron, President of the J. Franklyn Bourne Bar Association of Prince George’s County and State Delegate; and Harry Johnson, former President of the Maryland State Bar Association.

Martin Fletcher, Whiteford Taylor’s managing partner said, “How often do you get both state and national bar presidents visiting your town, let alone your office?”

We were also pleased to highlight the firm’s summer program for first-year, minority law school students. “A lot of times, you don’t get to see diversity in big law firms,” said Whiteford Taylor Counsel Sidney Butcher. “We thought it was very significant to have these folks together.”
