Mr. René, who joins Whiteford as a Partner, advises healthcare providers in regulatory compliance, reimbursement, transactional and corporate governance matters. His clients include long-term and post-acute care providers, including nursing homes, assisted living providers and behavioral health practices. He is experienced with Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement and billing, licensure, HIPAA, the Anti-Kickback Statute, Stark Law, the False Claims Act and much more. Prior to private practice, he served as General Counsel to a provider of skilled nursing and addiction recovery services in Maryland and Delaware. He is a frequent speaker for the American Health Lawyers Association, the American Health Care Association, the Virginia Health Care Association and Maryland’s Lifespan Network, among others.
Mr. DiStanislao, who joins the firm as Counsel, is experienced defending clients in all stages of litigation in federal and state courts across the country, largely centered on general commercial, product liability and environmental litigation. He has extensive experience as an appellate advocate. He previously clerked for Judge G. Steven Agee on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and Judge Henry E. Hudson on the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia. In 2024, he was appointed by Governor Glenn Youngkin to the Board of Trustees of the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation and is a member of the Federalist Society and the John Marshall Center and Inn of Court.
